Did you know you have
more than 600 muscles in your body? They do everything from pumping blood
throughout
the body to help you in your backpack heavy lifting. You control
over certain muscles, while others - like your heart - do their work without
thinking at all
Each muscle consists of
the same material, a type of elastic tissue (sort of like this material in a
rubber band). Thousands, or even tens of thousands, of small fibers make up
each muscle
Smooth muscle - and
sometimes also called involuntary muscle - and usually in the papers, or layers,
with one layer of muscle behind the other. You can not control this type of
muscle. Brain and body tell these muscles what to do without you even thinking
about it. You can not use your muscles to make smooth muscles in your arm or
jump in the air
But the smooth muscles
in the work throughout the body. In the stomach and digestive tract, they
contract (tighten) and relax to allow to make food journey through the body.
Smooth muscle in handy if you're sick and you need to shake. Back muscles push
the food from the stomach to come through the esophagus (say: IH-Sah-FUH-Goss)
and out of the mouth
And are also found in
the smooth muscle of the bladder. When you are comfortable, it allows you to
hold in urine
(Paul) until you get to the bathroom. After that contract so that
you can pay the urine. These muscles are also in the woman's uterus, as a child
develops. There they help to push the baby out of the mother's body when it is
time to be born
